What is Title I?

Title I is a federal program that provides funds to school districts and schools. The program is designed to close achievement gaps and ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education. Part A, the largest part of the program, allocates funding to districts according to a formula based on district free and reduced lunch percentages.

Many schools receiving Part A funding operate Schoolwide Programs. Caddie Woodlawn has a schoolwide Title I program for students in grades K – 5. In a Title I schoolwide school, Title I funds may be used to provide services to any student. All staff, resources, and classes are part of the overall schoolwide program.
